Q:
You are a preschool teacher. Your daycare center requires you to put a child into timeout if they misbehave. You have a 6 year old child who hits another child. You ask her firmly to have a seat in timeout. She says, No! I don't want to! and then runs off. You walk up to her and hold her hand to escort her to timeout. She pulls away from you and runs off again and she starts calling the other children names. The child is too big to carry. (With younger children, you can simply carry the child to remove them from the situation.) How do you handle this situation?
