Maintenance includes, but not limited to, correcting errors, backing up and recovering data, supporting end users, and enhancing the system. This will make the system run better, and last longer. This insures that the Bead Bar doesnt loose vital information that is stored on the database. Although the daily/weekly maintenance can be costly, it is worth the time, money and effort to know essential information is safe and secure.
The Bead Bar is in need of a network that can handle all of their business requests, and the possibility for growth in the future. The Bead Bar company needs to use a peer-to-peer architecture. This is when any computer in the network is capable of sharing its resources, such as disk space and printers, with any other computer. Employees of the Bead Bar can access any files or records that someone else has created on a different computer. If one employee designs a new template for pricing, everyone else in the company has access to the file. It would be chaotic if all computers did not do the same tasks. People would get mad, and customers would too.
In a peer-to-peer architecture, any computer can share its resources with all the other computers. This is very important to the Bead Bar because it makes their business more efficient. All computers need to be able to take payme ...

Some types of software will instantly alert those responsible for ordering of low inventory levels. This database will also contain all the financial information necessary for Julia to generate her reports, from Accounts Payable to Accounts Receivable.
The Bead Bar executives have also expressed a desire for data warehousing and data mining capabilities. Solutions are available on the Internet for minimal monthly or yearly fees. Many of these service providers also offer server backup. In the event of a disaster, Bead Bars entire database could be lost without a disaster recovery plan like this. The executives will need to decide if the loss of their database would be more costly than subscribing to a server backup service.
Bead Bars executives want to build a website with e-commerce capabilities. A functional website with a quickly loading home page is the first step to reaching over 500 million Internet users. Electronic Data Interchange and Electronic Funds Transfer will open the Bead Bar business to the world. Securing trust certificates from WebTrust, TRUSTe, and the Better Business Bureau will harbor trust with Bead Bar web customers. Data encryption technology can keep customers from losing their personal information to those who may use it for ill.
Once the components and services have been selected by the system development team, the design will be frozen to avoid scope creep and feature creep. Changes to the design at this point would require more feasibility analyses. These analyses can put the project behind schedule, while scope creep and feature creep can lead to the project being over budget.
The next step of the waterfall method is development. In the development phase, the agreed-upon design of the system is built. Database developers will be hired to create the database models and implement the Database Management Systems. Software Engineers will program the specific applications to carry out the function ...

I would recommend an enterprise database management system in the form of a distributed database management system because of the large amount of data that needs to be accessed by the various employees. This specific type of database management system is good for tracking inventory and sales, which is exactly what the bead bar needs. Although this database management system is more complex than a Desktop Database Management System, I feel this is the way to go because of the level of organization it provides and the reliability that a distributed DBMS can provide. This specific DBMS can also add additional security. If the server is shut down for any reason, users can still access the data they need at another location. Only the location with the server will be primarily affected, so all the information will not be lost.
I believe the bead bar should hire a database administrator to handle tasks that the Bead Bar management does not know how to handle. A database is important for any company and needs to be handled professionally to avoid any snags or problems. A database administrator will perform four types of tasks; Management tasks (be a link between the users and the management), security tasks (secure the database on a

continual basis), daily tasks (maintain the database and work with all the users) and planning tasks (develop policies and procedures for users).
Data mining should be preformed in order to find financial or other business patterns in the bead bars data. This will effectively and efficiently improve the Bead Bars business. I also believe that a nonvolatile data warehouse should also be implemented to contain all the ...

The Bead Bar's information technology needs include the initialization of a business website, information sharing between locations, and data confidentiality and security; this means the Bead Bar is in need of a strong networking system which is vital for internal and external communications.
Computers are essential for a growing company. Anything from processing orders to ordering coffee for the break room with the recommendation from the group can be expedited with the use of a computer. The Bead Bar has made the following purchases: fifteen (15) desktop computers, two (2) notebook computers, and one (1) handheld computer. All of these machines will be running an updated version of Microsoft XP Pro. (Malaga, 2005)
The Bead Bar consists of multiple sites through out the country; therefore, a strong networking system is needed in order to communicate with a distributed database. The network will have to provide the stability needed to prevent downtime that would result if databases were located solely in the Bead Bar headquarters. A distributed database will connect to the headquarters and each location in the United States.
This database will need to be synchronized on a daily basis to keep inventory and customer information update. This database should effectively ensure that the customer does not experience any delays in receiving his/her ordered products.
The relational model database combines speed, flexibility, and ease of use. The Oracle 9i Database software, an enterprise database specifically designed to manage distributed data (Oracle 2008), would work well in this endeavor. The Oracle 9i meets the current and future needs for a stable and efficient database system.
A distributed database necessitates that all of the Bead Bar's computers be routed through a network and telecommunications system; the database must be configured properly through a network to enable it to operate at full capacity. (Malaga, 2005)
The managers of the Bead Bar have described the features each branch was most interested in or concerned about: unsightly appearance of a wired network, studios interconnected to each other and headquarters, an easier way to send and receive designs, access to corporate office from virtually anywhere, spee ...
