The reason for this I feel is the fact that urine is considered by many as a waste product and as such not requiring as much reverence as other specimen of limited availabilty such as cerebtospinal fluid, blood or tissue biopsies. However medical ethics dictate that each and every type of specimen be managed appripriately as the implication of contamination of the specimen may be detrimental to the patient
