The terrorist attacks have affected our country greater than any other event in history in my opinion. Since those attacks security at every airport has been raised, and the terrorist threat level has never gone back down to color green, it was at red for about a year after the accident, and has remained at orange ever since. Not only security, but the use of our budget spending has become so lopsided towards national defense that we now are having these protests about the 1%. For a country that is nine trillion dollars in debt spending over 3 trillion dollars on the war might not have been the best idea (but that is a different topic). But none the less as a country we would not have needed to invade Iraq and Afghanistan ...

The civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s challenged racism in America and made the country a more just and humane society for all. Some of the individuals who contributed the most to removing racial differences between the whites and the black were Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., Thurgood Marshall and The Little Rock Nine.
Rosa Parks was an African-American seamstress. The incident occurred on December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, when she left work and boarded a bus for home. The bus driver ordered Parks to give up her seat to a white passenger as it was a rule that if the bus was crowded and all the whites only seats were filled, black people were expected to give up their seats to the whites. Rosa Parks refused and the bus driver had her arrested.
