For each of the following sets of data, use your calculator to make a scatter plot of the data
and copy it to the set of axes. Then find the regression equation and plot it together with the
data. Answer any of the questions which are asked.
1. The table below gives selected times for the world record in the mile run for men and the
year in which it was set. Consider 1900 to be year 0. Use the regression equation you
find to predict the world record in 2020. Can the equation be used to predict future
records indefinitely?
