The purpose is for you to examine a current crime prevention program, philosophy, or topic, in depth and to provide successful guidance to crime prevention consumers. You will submit an eight- to ten-page paper (exclusive of the title and reference pages) which provides a study of one program, philosophy, or topic and the effects on crime prevention in the United States. You may choose a federal, state or local program to study. At a minimum, your paper should include the following:
- A detailed presentation of the factors necessitating the particular crime prevention program, philosophy, or topic.
- Discussion of the element or elements of the crime triangle that the crime prevention program seeks to address.
- Analysis, including statistical support, of the success of the program in affecting crime.
- A critical analysis of the effectiveness of the crime prevention program.
- Commentary on the impacts of societal factors on the selected crime prevention program.
- A prediction concerning the technological advancements of the program and the resulting success or failure based upon these advancements.
- Include five to nine scholarly sources
You may supplement your paper with interviews of law enforcement or crime prevention personnel, comparisons of crime prevention programs, evaluation of successful programs in other countries, and financial constraints or grant funding mechanisms that provide for program implementation.
