Surface temperatures of stars can vary greatly. One simple way to estimate the surface temperature of a star is simply by analyzing the color of the star. This is done by analyzing the light spectrum the star outputs as a result of fusion. The shade of color will estimate the stars temperature.
Stars are then classified based on their spectral class. The classes are O, B, A, F, G, K, and M. Class O stars are generally blue stars and have the highest surface temperature. The scale ends with class M are generally red and have the lowest surface temperature.
Discuss Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagrams: interpretation, determination of age of the star clusters.
HR diagrams are graphs of plots of stars. The Y-Axis ranks the absolute magnitude (luminosity) of the stars. The X-Axis ranks the color of the star’s respective light spectrums. A stars age can be estimated based upon its position on the HR diagram. Hotter stars consume more fuel, thus tend to have a shorter lifespan than cooler burning stars. As a result, stars on the top ...
