It is unlikely the Bead Bar will expand the network at the upper management levels after network implementation; however, a star topology ensures it is an easy process should the need arise. Below the hub, a bus topology networks the server together with all the office machines: printers, fax machines, and office desktops. The result is a functional tree topology in the headquarters building. At each of the Bead Bar studios, it also unlikely the network will need to be expanded. Because of the relative low cost, a bus topology is desirable in each of the studios.
For network architecture, peer-to-peer networks, although simpler in arrangement, are not powerful enough for the Bead Bar’s requirements. The Bead Bar will benefit more from a Server-to-clients network architecture. The Bead Bar’s powerful minicomputer server, while an expensive component of the network, will be able to handle thousands of MIPS. This processing power should be able to handle all of the Bead Bar’s studios at once with minimal bottlenecking.
Altogether, this proposed network plan is relatively low-cost. The time required for set-up is minimal, also. The most expensive components of the network will be the minicomputer server and the hub at Bead Bar headquarters. There will be a monthly fee for high-speed Int ...
