Enlist the help of bilingual staff when contacting parents. 6 Invite parents, grandparents or other family members to be guest speakers in your classroom. Encourage them to share details about their native country that might include holiday traditions, games and food. While showing our similarities as well our differences, we establish our uniqueness. This will let the student see how special they each are. We must introduce and recognize each student as to their cultural differences and contributions. We must instill pride and nurture each child so they can appreciate themselves and others. They must have the dignity that encourages and fosters intellectual growth. Letting each student know that they are an integral part of a whole class and that cooperation from each child in representing the entire class is important. We must express to students how variety is an enhancement to the class and learning process. The student must know his/her contributions to the planet and that whatever they he/she has to offer are well appreciated. This information causes a feeling of comfort and welcome to the students as they enter the class. The teacher must provide, if necessary, any additional information to elaborate on similarities and diversities to make this a multicultural classroom setting.
