Q:

Law enforcement has a responsibility to protect life and property, efficiently solve crimes, and interrupt criminal activity. One of the ongoing debates among society is the role of race and the criminal justice system. One subtopic of the debate is that African-Americans are the subject of police scrutiny solely due to race, and offenses such as "Driving While Black", thus the greater police scrutiny.

For this project, you are to comment on the following assertion. Explain your agreement or disagreement with the statement and explain how a more diverse representation among the officers allows for more efficient policing.

Crime statistics show that African-Americans commit more crime. Perhaps those statistics reflect that more African-Americans are caught committing criminal acts because they are under extra scrutiny from law enforcement, which are ignoring other sections of the population.
