However at each stage of our life, our body demands more and different dietary needs in order to stay in a healthy condition.
Babies have two separate dietary changes that they go through. From birth to six months of age, infants increase their weight by 300% and their length by 50%. During this time nutrition is of vital importance. Breast milk generally supplies a baby with the fluids, nutrients, and energy one needs up until about the age of six months. Breast milk is always preferred to formula because it contains protective and immunological factors that help the baby’s development, which can not be found in formula. Milk helps provide water for the baby, and keeps him healthy enough to replenish any water losses. However, a baby needs extra water once solid foods are introduced into their diet.
The second stage of dietary changes is in infant’s ages six to twelve months. During this time solid food is introduced, and plenty of water needs to be consumed. Every society has their own thought about what types of food a baby should start out with.
