Question 1
Imagine you are the manager of a wireless LAN and your boss has asked you to research a WLAN monitoring tool. For one of the network monitoring tools listed on pp. 326-335 of the text, name one major advantage and one major disadvantage of the tool and describe a short scenario in which a company would find this tool the ideal choice for monitoring their WLAN.
Respond to a classmate who described a different tool than the one you described. Offer additional advantages and disadvantages of his or her tool. Think about other scenarios in which the tool he or she described could be used.
Question 2
Manufacturers are continuously releasing firmware upgrades for their products. If you were the manager of a WLAN, how would you keep yourself informed of new firmware upgrades? Why is it important to make sure you have the latest version of firmware installed on your equipment? Occasionally after upgrading firmware, the antennas in your wireless network need to be adjusted. What technology may someday eliminate this need for antenna maintenance? In your own words, briefly describe how this technology works.
